On 12th January 2023, His Honour Martyn Zeidman KC, sitting as a Judge Coroner, held the first Pre-Inquest Review hearing of the Inquests into the deaths of Joseph Ritchie-Bennett, James Furlong and David Wails which arose out of a terror attack in Forbury Gardens, Reading on 20 June 2020. The attack was perpetrated by Khairi Saadallah who subsequently pleaded guilty to three charges of murder and three charges of attempted murder and was sentenced to life imprisonment.
The Pre-Inquest Review hearing took place at the Royal Courts of Justice. The Inquests are expected to be heard over a period of approximately 6 weeks.
