Sarah Dobbie was instructed by Leigh Day Solicitors on behalf of the Good Law Project to advise on the routes by which individuals fleeing from Ukraine can claim asylum in the UK and the impact of the Nationality and Borders Bill on those individuals. As a result, the Joint Opinion — co-authored with Raza Husain QC of Matrix and Alasdair Mackenzie of Doughty Street Chambers — was published this week.
The Joint Opinion follows from an earlier Joint Opinion — co-authored with Raza Husain QC, Jason Pobjoy of Blackstone Chambers and Eleanor Mitchell of Matrix — on behalf of Freedom from Torture in October 2021.
This week Sarah joined a panel with Larry Bottinick (acting head of UNHCR UK) and Steve Valdez-Symonds (Amnesty International UK’s Refugee and Migrant Rights Director) at an event in Cambridge to discuss the implications of the Bill.
