Webinar: how information law arises through other legal claims

11 November 2025

Aaron Moss, John Goss and Eleanor Guildford hosted a highly popular CPD-accredited webinar on Monday 10 November, exploring how information law arises through other legal claims.

As barristers, they regularly encounter matters where information law arises not as standalone issue, but as part of broader legal cases. These often address issues about how information is collected, used, and shared as part of these cases. Sometimes these can shape the principles of information law, even when the cases themselves are not directly about information governance. As counsel, they find that arguments rooted in data protection or confidentiality are increasingly central to litigation strategies, even where the primary claim lies elsewhere.

Topics included:

  • Subject access requests and their relationship to litigation
  • Information law claims arising from other court proceedings, including the defence of immunity from suit
  • Data protection and privacy in public inquiries and investigations
