Victoria von Wachter represented the Appropriate Authority for Norfolk Constabulary in a misconduct hearing relating to an officers acquisition and  possession of a Class C drug, Tramadol without having been prescribed it by a physician.  Even when she realised the significance of the drug the officer did not dispose of it or return it to its rightful owner. Following an investigation with which the officer cooperated fully, she was the subject of a Community Resolution Order.

On behalf of the officer it was submitted that she had naively and unknowingly acquired the drug prescribed for a family member to alleviate her pain and suffering arising from  a medical condition.  She claimed that she did not know that the drug was Class C. The matter was assessed as Gross Misconduct but the AA was not seeking dismissal.  The Panel were persuaded that this was only a misconduct matter and sanctioned the officer with a written warning.
