Paula Vennells will today give evidence to the Post Office Horizon IT Inquiry. Samantha Leek KC represents Ms Vennells, with junior counsel including Aaron Moss and Paul Casey of Fountain Court Chambers, instructed by Sonia Campbell and Michael Frost of Mishcon de Reya.
Ms Vennells was CEO of Post Office Ltd from 2012 to 2019, having joined the business in 2007.
The statutory inquiry, chaired by Sir Wyn Williams, was established in 2021 and has heard its evidence in phases. Ms Vennells is giving evidence as part of Phases 5 and 6 which concern issues including governance, access to justice, and the response to the scandal.
The inquiry’s website states that “Sir Wyn is tasked with ensuring there is a public summary of the failings which occurred with the Horizon IT system at the Post Office leading to the suspension, termination or subpostmasters’ contracts, prosecution and conviction of subpostmasters.”
Samantha Leek KC and Aaron Moss are specialists in public inquiries, each ranked in both of the directories. Samantha is described as “polished and commanding advocate. She has a huge body of experience in inquests and inquiries.” Aaron “has got judgement well beyond his years of call: he is a really impressive performer.”
