Saara Idelbi acts for the Secretary of State for Work and Pensions in judicial review challenge, pursuant to the Equality Act 2010

19 July 2023

Saara appeared before the Administrative Court on 18 July 2023, led by David Blundell KC (Landmark Chambers) and Katherine Apps KC (39 Essex Chambers), for the court to consider a declaration proposed by agreement between the parties.

The claim concerned whether the Department for Work and Pensions had breached the duty to make reasonable adjustments, and Article 8 read with Article 14 of the ECHR, when sending letters to registered blind and registered sight impaired benefits claimants (for income-related Employment Support Allowance and Personal Independence Payment).
