Jack’s practice encompasses all of Chambers’ core practice areas, with particular interest in police law, public and administrative law including judicial review, human rights and civil liberties, inquests and inquiries, and data protection and information law. He welcomes instructions as part of a counsel team and to appear unled. He regularly acts for all manner of public bodies and private clients.
Jack is a member of the Attorney General’s Civil Panel – C Panel.
Jack has a developing judicial review, practice. He acts for public bodies in complex and sensitive matters. He recently acted for a police force challenged for their policing of social media comments on transgender issues. The reported judgment can be found here.
Jack appears regularly in matters concerning closed materials and public interest immunity before all manner of courts. A recent reported case concerned the disclosure of sensitive police intelligence in Court of Protection proceedings. The judgment can be found here.
Jack regularly appears unled in multi-week inquests. He acted as junior counsel for the Ministry of Justice in the Reading Terror Attack Inquests and is junior counsel in the Inquest into the death of Sara Sharif.
He has been instructed unled at all levels of court up to and including the Court of Appeal. He is regularly instructed as sole counsel in proceedings against senior counsel.
Prior to Pupillage, Jack worked in the Energy and Environmental technology industries after being granted a First from the University of Oxford. Jack was awarded an Outstanding grade in his Bar Vocational Studies course and was the recipient of Middle Temple’s Queen Mother Scholarship.
