Ed accepts instructions in all of Chambers’ core practice areas, with particular interest in administrative and public law, police law, including police misconduct, and inquests and inquiries. He also has a growing Sports Law practice.
In 2023 Ed was appointed to the Attorney General’s C Panel of Civil Counsel. He is currently instructed by the Home Office in the Undercover Policing Inquiry. Additionally, he is instructed in several matters that raise national security issues. Ed was also part of a 5 Essex counsel team defending the Department for Transport (DfT) in a £12 million claim for malicious prosecution and misfeasance in public office. Following a three week trial, Judgment was handed down in favour of the DfT by Mr Justice Freedman in June 2025: Wilson & Ors v Department for Transport [2025] EWHC 1387 (KB).
Ed’s Sports Law practice includes instructions from the Rugby Football Union and sitting on MCC Disciplinary Panels. He also sits on the Football Association’s National Serious Case Panel.
Prior to joining Chambers in June 2023, Ed gained considerable experience appearing in both the Magistrates’ Court and the Crown Court in a whole range of criminal matters.
Ed has a growing practice in this field., in particular in relation to civil orders and applications in the Magistrates’ and Crown Court through to the High Court.
During his time so far at 5 Essex Chambers and prior to joining, Ed has gained experience of representing those involved in a variety of proceedings including those under the Proceeds of Crime Act 2002, Police Property Act 1897, Serious Crime Act 2007 and Stalking Protection Act 2019.
Ed is also increasingly instructed in police misconduct matters.
Ed has a growing Public Law practice and is instructed in a wide range of matters particularly in those that raise national security related issues.
He has considerable experience in Public Inquires and is currently instructed by the Home Office in the Undercover Police Inquiry and by the Metropolitan Police in the Dawn Sturgess Inquiry.
In 2023 he was appointed to the Attorney General’s C Panel of Civil Counsel.
During his masters, Ed obtained a Distinction in his dissertation – ‘The Special Immigration Appeals Commission: an unfortunate but justifiable necessity?’.
In July 2023 Ed was appointed to the Football Association’s National Serious Case Panel. Furthermore, he has been sitting on MCC Disciplinary Panels for several years.
Ed has been instructed in a wide range of regulatory and disciplinary matters by the Rugby Football Union which includes issues relating to anti-doping. He is also a member of the Sport Resolutions Pro Bono Legal Advice Panel.
Ed was instructed as part of a barrister and solicitor team by a national sport’s governing body who are exploring the implementation of a new governance structure.
Before commencing pupillage, Ed spent a year with leading disputes practice Peters & Peters LLP. He worked in their Commercial Litigation team on a high-profile case that had been brought by over 100 individuals, including many high profile footballers and cricketers, in relation to investments in schemes offered by The Ingenious Group.

Ed was a Trustee of the Kalisher Trust from 2019 – 2022.
Ed greatly enjoys assisting with moots and other educational events at Gray’s Inn. During his BPTC year Ed was a mentor for Vocalise and taught debating at HMP Feltham.
In his spare time, Ed enjoys all sports. He is a playing member of the MCC. He represented the Bar of England and Wales Cricket Club at the Lawyer’s World Cup in New Zealand in 2019/20 and Sri Lanka in 2017.
Ed is a very keen traveller.
