Privacy Ethics and the Law with Facebook UK’s Karim Palant

11 April 2019

A big thank you to Karim Palant, Facebook’s UK Public Policy manager, whose presentation today managed to be both informative and thought provoking! We had a great turn out from lawyers across the broad spectrum of information law who heard a rare account of how Facebook are using technology and humans to manage the vast amount of data that is published across their platform minute by minute. Fiona Barton QC reflected on the vast challenges presented to the legal system and Jason Beer QC fielded a number of questions from the floor.  All this against the background of the government’s white paper on Online Harm which was published this week and is open for consultation until July. More news on future information law events to follow.
