We are delighted to announce that current pupils Paige Jones and Jack Palmer have accepted an invitation to join chambers as tenants.
They both started their pupillage here in September 2022 and will officially become tenants of 5 Essex Chambers in September 2023. Head of Chambers, Jason Beer KC, comments: “We are delighted to welcome Paige and Jack to Chambers as tenants – they have both excelled during their pupillages, and are rapidly developing flourishing practises: I am sure that they will each have long and distinguished careers here.”
Paige has been gaining experience in all of our core areas of practice within the scope of Police Law with a particular emphasis on civil applications for Sexual Harm Prevention Orders, Stalking Protection Orders and Closure Orders. Before commencing pupillage, she was a paralegal for a number of years – working in the areas of inquests and discrimination law.
Paige comments: “I have thoroughly enjoyed my pupillage at 5 Essex Chambers and I could not be happier to become a tenant here too. I cannot wait to get started as junior tenant, learning from the excellent barristers here and guided, as always, by our wonderful clerking team.”.
Jack is developing a busy police law practice involving applications and appeals in the Magistrates and Crown Courts and has been undertaking inquest and inquiry work – including being instructed in the Forbury Gardens Inquests. He has appeared for government bodies in civil claims in the county courts and assisted with judicial review, defamation, data protection, and wrongful arrest cases including making his first appearance in the High Court.
Jack says: “I am thrilled to accept the offer of tenancy and I am thoroughly looking forward to continuing to build my practice at a set defined by its cutting-edge work. Chambers is a welcoming and warm environment and I look forward to September with great anticipation.”
