Dan Hobbs represented the Metropolitan Police Service and presented the case against Pc Ruby Begum who was alleged to have posted a series of discriminatory tweets on Twitter (now ‘X’).
Pc Ruby Begum admitted to posting tweets such as “Dirty Zionists. Hell is waiting” while serving as a special constable and also made controversial comments about the September 11 2001 terror attacks. The 29-year-old also admitted to posting “Trust no Kuffar” in reference to all non-Muslims.
Ms Begum denied gross misconduct and said her comments amounted to simple misconduct and argued that a final written warning would be sufficient sanction.
The panel disagreed and said they found her posts “appalling”, “derogatory” and “abusive” and told the defendant her actions amounted to gross misconduct and dismissed her without notice.
