Jack Palmer recently acted on behalf of Bedfordshire Police in obtaining an urgent SCPO in the High Court in proceedings before Mrs Justice Obi.
The application concerned a prisoner convicted for attempted murder who had developed terrorist ideology and who was due to be released from prison imminently without licence conditions.
In a potentially novel application, Jack successfully argued for the anonymity of professional witnesses from regional counter terrorism and local police forces by reference to CPR r.39.2(4) due to the risks of retribution posed by the individual.
The respondent will now be subject to close restrictions for the maximum SCPO period of 5 years.
