Information Law breakfast briefing – Group Litigation and Data Protection: not the end of the road?

18 April 2024

The Information Law team hosted a breakfast briefing on the topic of Group Litigation and Data Protection on 14th May 2024, 8.30am-10.30am at the Honourable Society of the Inner Temple.

Topic:

Since the introduction of GDPR six years ago, there have been many attempts to bring group litigation in relation to mass data breaches or wrongful processing. But group litigation under the GDPR in England and Wales has had a rocky path, with a series of judicial decisions placing roadblocks in the way of mass claims. In this breakfast seminar, experts in the field considered:

  • whether this is in the public interest
  • how those roadblocks might be removed or bypassed
  • whether group litigation in this area really is at the end of the road.
Speakers:

Francesca Whitelaw KC – Barrister, 5 Essex Chambers

Alex Ustych – Barrister, 5 Essex Chambers

Aaron Moss, Barrister, 5 Essex Chambers

John Goss – Barrister, 5 Essex Chambers
