Georgina Wolfe appeared as Counsel to the Inquest in the inquest into the death of PC Dumphreys, which was heard in Carlisle by Assistant Coroner Robert Cohen.
PC Dumphreys was responding to an emergency call. He died when the N57 engine of his BMW police car caught fire. The car veered off the motorway and overturned. He sustained fatal injuries. In the preceding years, an issue with police N57 crankshaft bearings had been identified and national remedial work carried out. The inquest considered the complex engineering evidence and had implications for nationwide police fleet management.
The court recorded a conclusion of accidental death and said PC Dumphreys, who was an advanced driver, could not have prevented the crash.
Georgina regularly appears in high-profile inquests acting for a variety of interested persons and as Counsel to the Inquest.
