A new inquest into the death of Geoff Gray at Deepcut Barracks in 2001 starts today. Pte Gray was the third of four trainee soldiers who died of gunshot wounds at the barracks between 1995 and 2002. The previous inquest into his death was quashed in November 2017.
The inquest is being held at Woking Coroner’s Court with HH Peter Rook QC as Coroner. He has previously ruled that he would sit without a jury. The inquest will hear from almost 100 witnesses and is expected to run until May.
Georgina Wolfe and Cicely Hayward are instructed for the Ministry of Defence.
