Francesca Whitelaw will be a panellist at the ‘Upholding Integrity in Policing : Changes to the Complaints and Disciplinary Systems’ – a conference organised by Westminster Briefing – to be held on Tuesday 23 May in London.
Francesca will be joining other panellists Dame Anne Owers, Chair of the Independent Police Complaints Commission and Victor Marshall OBE, Professional Standards Co-ordinator of the Police Superintendents' Association of England & Wales for the session entitled “Understanding Reforms to the Complaints and Disciplinary Systems”. The morning session will provide an update on the reforms and their impact and include discussion on the following areas: Policing and Crime Act 2017; the new role for PCCs; increasing efficiency, effectiveness and public confidence; whistleblowing; the police disciplinary system; giving the IPCC greater direction and control over investigations; introducing super-complaints into policing and overcoming cultural and institutional barriers.
