The Government has published a roadmap for the introduction of various measures contained in the Employment Rights Bill. Here are some of the key dates:
| April 2026 | Paternity leave and unpaid parental leave will become ‘Day one’ rights. |
| April 2026 | Enhanced whistleblowing protections will be implemented. |
| October 2026 | Restrictions on ‘fire and rehire’. |
| October 2026 | Introduction of a requirement on employers to take ‘all reasonable steps’ to prevent sexual harassment and to impose employer liability for third-party harassment. |
| 2027 | Enhanced dismissal protections for pregnant women and new mothers. |
| 2027 | The right to claim unfair dismissal to become a ‘Day one’ right. |
| 2027 | Protections for zero-hours workers. |
| 2027 | Improved access to flexible working. |
