Dan Hobbs presented the misconduct case against PC Benson on behalf of the Metropolitan Police after he was accused of spanking the girl between April and August 2018.
The Officer admitted that his sexual kink was ‘spanking’ but denied any sexual interest in the young girl in question. The child was known to PC Benson but was not his daughter.
The Panel found that the nature of the spanking (to the 12-year old’s bare bottom) contained a sexual element to it. The spanking happened when the Officer was off duty and amounted to serious Discreditable Conduct.
Following the disciplinary hearing, PC Benson was dismissed without notice and placed on the barred list held by the College of Policing.
Det Supt Will Lexton-Jones said following the hearing: “I hope this outcome demonstrates how we are rooting out those who do not demonstrate the high standards we demand from our officers.”
