We are pleased to congratulate Victoria von Wachter on achieving the bronze volunteer award from the Employment Tribunal Litigants in Person Support Scheme (ELIPS). This award acknowledges the number of hours she has contributed towards the ELIPS Scheme to date.
Victoria has been taking part in ELIPS for many years. She recalls that when she first started, it used to be in a tiny room at the Central London Employment Tribunal which usually had queues stretching round the block on ELIPS days (Thursdays). Now instead it runs entirely remotely via Teams with set appointments and more rigorously set parameters of the assistance that lawyers can give. It focuses mainly on helping LIPs to prepare for a hearing rather than doing the hearing for them, which is what used to happen in the early days.
The Employment Lawyers Association (ELA) sends out a calendar every six months and lawyers who volunteer are asked to elect what days they can help. They are always accompanied by a solicitor or law student to take a note. Victoria usually volunteers twice in a 6-month session. “I do so much Respondent work that this is my way of putting a bit back.” Victoria commented.
Victoria von Wachter specialises in employment law advising a wide range of clients with notable experience acting for the police in employment ,disciplinary and pension matters.
