Barnabas Branston represented Dorset Police in a gross misconduct hearing against former officer

23 February 2022

Barnabas Branston successfully represented Dorset Police in case against a former police officer who stole posts from a shooting range and used them to build garden furniture. The former firearm officer was found guilty of gross misconduct.

A panel heard that the retired officer took the goods home to build a table for his garden and lied to his supervisor about it.

Following a two-day hearing, the panel found the former officer breached the force's standards of professional behaviour. He has been placed on the College of Policing's barred list.

The hearing was held at Dorset Police headquarters in Winfrith.
