New Vento Bands and Financial Limits

1. Vento Bands

The President of the Employment Tribunal in England and Wales has issued an Eighth Addendum to the Presidential Guidance on employment tribunal awards for injury to feelings. The Addendum includes updated Vento bands for claims presented on or after 6 April 2025:

Lower band £1,200 to £12,100 for less serious cases;

Middle band £12,100 to £36,400 for cases that do not merit an award in the upper band;

Upper band £36,400 to £60,700 for the most serious cases, with the most exceptional cases capable of exceeding £60,700.

  2. Financial Limits

Furthermore, the annual changes to compensation limits also take effect on 6^th April 2025. The Employment Rights (Increase of Limits) Order 2025 SI 2025/348 will make the following changes:

• The limit on the compensatory award for unfair dismissal, which will increase from £115,115 to £118,223
• The limit on a week’s pay for the purpose of calculating the basic award for unfair dismissal and statutory redundancy payments will increase from £700 to £719
