Members of Chambers gathered this week for a lunch and learn to mark International Women’s Day 2026 hosted by Samantha Leek KC.
We heard from Emma Price, co-author of the recently published Baby at the Bar, a book focused on driving more honest conversations about the juggle of parenting and caring responsibilities at the self-employed Bar. Emma shared the inspiration behind the book, co-authored with fellow barrister Emma-Louise Fenelon, as well as the findings of and reflections on their research.
Millicent Wild also spoke about her recent invitation to be a guest speaker at the Metropolitan Police’s International Women’s Day celebrations following her work with them to manage high-risk sexual offenders, for which she was awarded a commendation. Millicent’s work with the Metropolitan Police has been instrumental in driving positive change.
Both speakers brilliantly showcased the exceptional work members of Chambers are undertaking both within case work and more broadly across the industry. A broader discussion concluded the event, touching on the ways in which Chambers can and does support barristers and staff, the importance of peer-to-peer camaraderie and understanding, as well as how vital the role of exemplary clerking in ensuring everyone is well supported with whatever works best for their individual circumstances.
